'n Lekker Place to Be

I started looking into doing treks in the area.  From Tukta, the owner/manager of North West Guesthouse, I found out about a guy named Kitti.  Kitti does treks in the area but is also very involved with his community, a Karen village 17 kilometers north of Mae Sariang.

Kitti is looking for volunteers to teach English at the school in his village.  After I looked at his website I started to seriously consider volunteering.  The only bugbear was the time limit on my visa.  Kitty is looking for a commitment of two months but I only had  two weeks on visa at this stage.

I went to the local Immigration Office to inquire about a rumor I'd read on various sights on the net.  Could I get a 30 day visa on re-entry to Thailand through the Sot crossing into Myanmar?  After a discussion and telephone call it was all confirmed.  I could get 30 days which would give me some time to volunteer at Kitty's village.  More on this later!!

I gave myself the next day to think about it.
