It took a long time on the bus to get to Pua. But, when I eventually I got there I met Brian, my third couchsurfing host. He is an English teacher in Thailand. I'm really impressed with his Thai language level after only 11 months in the country.
Pua is the second largest city in the province of Nan. To use the adjective large is a gross over exaggeration. Hamada is a metropolis by comparison.
In the evening we went for some beers at two local bars. Good fun meeting the drunken locals.
