Don’t do the bamboo train!!!

The day before I’d met some Cambodian Scouts who were practicing for a ceremony to take place on this day.  I wondered over to the parade and watched the ceremony for a short time.

After that I found a motorbike taxi driver whom I’d previously arranged to do a tour with.  There are quite a number of sites around the city to see.  To start we went to the bamboo train.  What a let own.  For $5 I was expecting a little more than a straight forward there and back bumpy ride on a clapped-out piece of junk.  Not value for money.  Nothing to see or do of any interest.

After that we saw a few temples and the bat cave.  Seeing the bats come out of the cave by their millions made the whole tour worthwhile.  It was fascinating seeing the start of this daily migration from the cave to the distant Sonle Tap lake.
