Kayak Trip Day 3 - A sad farewell

The third day was not to be a long day.  We set out a little later than planned but that wasn't a worry because of the short trip to undertake.

I joined Caro again in the double while Richard and the girls took turns rotating with the single.  At the start of the day there were same rapids (to enjoy the ride) and a lot of hazardous whirlpools (to avoid).

It wasn't long before we got to the confluence of the Ou and Mekong Rivers.  Here we got take away lunch to be enjoyed while floating along the mighty Mekong.  We also went to an important religious cave where once a year a ceremony is held to honour the ancestors.

At the end of the trip we all gathered at the Utopia bar for the afternoon.  We swapped pictures and enjoyed each others company for the few hours before a I had to catch the night bus to Vientiane (again! I can't go back to that city any more).  I was really sad to have to walk away from such great company.  But I am happy for the short time I did spend with Richard, Caroline, Marion and Celia.
